Experience:
Don spent over 37 years of his professional career with Motorola. As Operations Manager, North America, he was responsible for the management and delivery of training for 18,000 employees of Motorola Semiconductor Sector where he managed an Operating Budget of $3.2 million for a 68,000 square foot training and conference center; supervised training operations and conference center staff and met the training delivery goals while staying within the allocated budget of $1.2 million. Delivered approximately 40,000 student days annually. He also analyzed the process used for training 140,000 people, consolidated all scheduling and registration activities into three "hubs" that provided instant customer contact from anywhere in the world, 24 hours a day, seven (7) days a week; and developed QS9000 documentation for all training operations and systems resulting in "zero defects" for first nine months of 2001.
As Manager of Motorola Management Institutes, Don was responsible for the development and delivery of worldwide executive training and education for all Motorola senior executives, managing the delivery of 75 to 100 senior management programs per year and accomplishing a corporate training objective. He negotiated with external customers for the delivery of management training resulting in sales in excess of $5 million annually. Don also managed staff and operating budgets of $4 million annually and consistently provided positive cash flow to the corporation. As Manager, Support Services and Training, his responsibilities included the training and development of the employees of the Mobile Products Division. Don managed the Technical Publications, Engineering Specs, and Participative Management Programs (Employee Incentive Program); installed a new Electronic Publishing System in order to improve the quality and reduced the cycle time for the creation of technical product manuals and schematics. Developed and implemented an employee incentive system for 1800 employees resulting in bonus awards to employees, substantial cost savings, and quality performance for the corporation. Trained 1200 factory workers in basic Process Control Techniques to assure conformance to the corporate goal of Six Sigma Quality performance.
